A new immersive attraction is set to bring fans face-to-face with the world of Superman, and one of its most unique robotic companions. Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences has announced Superman Experience: Defenders Unite, a walkthrough and live gameplay attraction opening April 18, 2026, at Stage 5 on the iconic Warner Bros. Studios.
Timed to launch on Superman Day, the experience blends storytelling, interactive gameplay, and advanced technology to immerse visitors in a high-stakes mission alongside the Man of Steel. But beyond the flying simulations and superpowered challenges, one standout feature is already drawing attention: a life-sized animatronic version of Gary, also known as Robot #4.
Inside the attraction’s central hub, the Fortress of Solitude, guests will encounter an audio-animatronic version of Gary, Superman’s Kryptonian robotic companion. This version of Gary is not just a background prop. Designed as a lifelike animatronic, the robot adds a tangible sci-fi element to the experience, reinforcing the advanced Kryptonian technology theme that runs throughout the attraction. For robotics fans, it’s a rare opportunity to see a niche DC character translated into a physical, interactive form.
The experience is built around an original storyline inspired by James Gunn’s 2025 Superman film. Guests are recruited by Superman himself inside the Fortress of Solitude and granted temporary Kryptonian abilities to complete a mission that spans multiple iconic locations.
Using motion capture technology, active 3D glasses, and high-definition audio, participants will simulate flying alongside Superman, train on the Kent Farm with Krypto the Superdog, and ultimately face off against the powerful villain Darkseid. The experience emphasizes teamwork, with real-time scoring adding a competitive edge for groups and families.
Beyond the main storyline, the Fortress of Solitude hub offers a range of interactive mini-games and activities. Guests can play catch with Krypto in the “Doghouse of Solitude,” tackle a two-player puzzle involving the Phantom Zone Projector, and unlock additional features as they progress.
As players complete these challenges, the Chaos Crystal—another centerpiece of the hub—activates, visually transforming the environment and tying together the attraction’s gameplay elements.
While Superman Experience: Defenders Unite is clearly designed as a blockbuster fan attraction, the inclusion of Gary (Robot #4) highlights a growing trend: the integration of advanced animatronics and robotics into mainstream entertainment experiences.
By bringing a lesser-known robotic character to life in such a prominent way, Warner Bros. is not only expanding the Superman universe but also showcasing how robotics can enhance storytelling in physical spaces.
The attraction will operate as a separately ticketed experience, with options to bundle it alongside the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood. Guests will be transported from the main tour center to Stage 5, where the experience takes place.
